What Cranford clients say
-
After my husband's accident, I did not know where to start. Lockwood sat with our family for two hours before taking the case and treated us with real respect through two years of litigation. The settlement will not bring him back, but it took the financial fear off the table.
Katherine V. Cranford -
I was rear-ended on Route 22 and my back has not been the same since. Lockwood handled every call with the insurance company so I could focus on physical therapy. The settlement covered my medical bills, lost wages, and more than I expected for pain and suffering.
Monica T. Westfield -
The warehouse tried to deny my shoulder claim. Lockwood pushed back, got the authorization reinstated, and when my doctor said I could not return to the same job, they handled the permanency hearing and got the right award. Clear communication the whole way.

FAQ
Common questions, honest answers.
If what you need to ask is not here, call us. The intake conversation is free and we will not pressure you into signing anything that day.
Do you take injury cases from Cranford?
Yes. Lockwood Injury Law represents clients across every Union County municipality, Cranford included. We'll come to your home or hospital room in Cranford for the initial consultation if you can't make it to the Westfield office.
How much does it cost to hire you?
Nothing up front. We work on contingency for personal injury cases — we only get paid if you recover, and our fee comes out of the settlement or verdict. We'll go over the exact percentage in your free consultation. No hourly bills, no retainer, no surprises.
How long do I have to file a claim in New Jersey?
The statute of limitations for most personal injury claims in NJ is two years from the date of the accident. For workers' comp, you have two years from the date of injury or last authorized treatment. There are shorter deadlines for claims against public entities. Call us the week it happens, not the week before the deadline.
What is my case worth?
We can't answer that in a sentence. It depends on your medical bills, lost wages, future earning capacity, pain and suffering, and the available insurance coverage. In a free consultation we'll review your records, pull the policy limits, and give you a realistic range — not a guess.
Do I have to go to court?
Most injury cases settle before trial. We prepare every case as if it is going to trial — that is the only way to settle it well — but ninety percent of ours settle through negotiation. When a case does need to be tried, we try it ourselves.
What if I was partly at fault?
New Jersey follows modified comparative negligence. As long as you are 50% or less at fault, you can still recover — your award is reduced by your percentage of fault. We hear cases every week where clients thought they had no case because they were partly responsible. Usually they do.
How do you handle communication during a case?
You'll have a direct phone number for the attorney on your case and a direct email. We return calls within one business day, send you copies of every pleading and settlement letter, and sit down for a full case review every two months. If that is not what happens, we are not doing our job.
